• A key strength is my ability to bring people together. I firmly believe that collaboration is the key to success, and I plan to work closely with residents, local organizations, businesses and city officials to address the most pressing issues facing Anoka. My opponent has made accusations toward a fellow council member, on camera, at the recent council special meeting on August 29th. The Jail has some conflicting ideas as they relate to the city vs the county, however, the city council is unified in their approach and belief the new jail belongs in another area of the county. To that end, my opponent claimed, incorrectly,  his fellow council member invited the county  attorney to a jail task force meeting, and also stipulated it was a private meeting. Both the invite and stipulation were proven incorrect as the city police department and the county attorney both disclosed in letters read at the September 4th council meeting. As a resident and Anoka Senior High School honor  graduate, Joelle Alvord is a dedicated advocate for the betterment of her hometown. Transparency, honesty, integrity, family values, God  and country have guided her throughout her life. She is a proven leader and has a masters degree in Business Management with an HR emphasis. Her business savvy aided in her professional career with GTE DC, et al.  Joelle Alvord retired after 29+ years earning various sales, collections, management, customer service and  director positions. She established a reputation of honesty, professionalism, loyalty and customer/employee engagement.

Anoka, Minnesota is a city with a rich history and vibrant community spirit. It is a place where neighbors look out for one another and where residents take pride in their town. The city is governed by the city manager in accordance with the City Charter and Minnesota Laws. The community will and should be  kept abreast of "happenings!"

• One of Joelle's key priorities is to continue Anoka's safety protocol. She understands that a strong community is built on trust and legality. Joelle plans to create opportunities for dialogue and collaboration, ensuring that everyone has a voice in shaping the future of Anoka.

• In addition to her focus on safety, Joelle is also committed to fostering strong leadership within the city. Anokans have shared there desire for a grocery store, riverfront expansion and charter/ordinance amendments. Joelle's leadership style is inclusive and collaborative, bringing people together to work towards common goals.

• Finally, fiscal responsibility is part of her focus. Ensuring hard earned dollars are appropriately allocated is critical to her platform as the Mayor.
